The Truth about Filler Injections
Many people find that as they age, their facial features show those aging signs much more quickly than the rest of the body. A facelift is one of the first options people think of, but if one doesn’t want to undergo invasive surgery, there are other options available. Some procedures that help with contouring the face and reducing the signs of age include lip augmentation and cheek augmentation. Using filler injections to perform these procedures is a very popular and effective way to get results with a minimum of invasive surgery.
Filler injections can plump up the lips, giving them a much more youthful look and helping to reduce or eliminate unsightly wrinkles. Hyaluronics, which include Juvederm, Perlane, and Radiesse, are very popular fillers, as is fat. Many board certified plastic surgeons prefer fat because it is readily available from other areas of the patient’s body, it is unlikely to be rejected, and it fives a very natural appearance. These same filler injections can be used for cheek augmentation, which is one of the most common aesthetic procedures currently performed.
Both of these procedures are performed in an outpatient facility and can take anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours, depending on the extent of treatment necessary. The lip and cheek augmentation can be performed at the same time, or separately, depending on the needs of the patient. Because the filler injections are non-invasive, a local anesthesia can be used, which minimizes risks of infection and allows for a quicker recovery period. Using filler injections can immediately improve the overall contour of the face, resulting in a healthier, youthful appearance.
