Juvederm Ultra XC Lip Augmentation Filler Injection in Washington DC

Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon with offices in Virginia and Maryland (Herndon & Chevy Chase) demonstrates lip injection with Juvederm Ultra XC. Lip augmentation with Juvederm Ultra XC is more comfortable than Juvederm Ultra or Restylane or Perlane due to its added numbing medicine (Lidocaine). Before and after pictures are shown. This patient has had multiple syringes of Juvederm because she desired exotic and much fuller sensual lips. Many patients undergo a much more subtle lip enhancement with less volume.

    Dr,naderi is there any way to make the lips look natural, towards the end her lips look too big and fake, or is it because it’s swollen?? is the last picture the same patient? Because in the video It looks too big and unatural! Thanks.

    @TheLonghairraven
    You can definitely go subtle or go over the top. This patient is a professional model and she is tall and she desires very bold lips. There is swelling after the injection and it takes about 4-7 days before they look great. Some patients get 1/2 of a syringe of filler every 6 months for a natural and subtle enhancement and others get multiple syringes every 2-3 months to maintain a bold enhancement. Its a matter of personal patient taste but I like natural lips as well.

    Dr Naderi, is this painful? I am so scared of the pain!! How would you describe the pain? and I had the same question about rhinoplasty, how painful is that too?

  5. DrNaderi says:

    @meryama001
    First let me tell you that about 80% of my Rhinoplasty patients do not take or need any strong pain medicine because I do not pack their noses after surgery. The packing is what usually causes all the pain after a Rhinoplasty. As far as lip injections, they do hurt but you can get your lips pretty much completely numbed up with a dental block so that they dont hurt at all. The dental block is much less painful than the injections.

    @meryama001 Thank you Doctor for clearing that up!!

    Hi Dr Naderi, i m thinking to go ahead with botox for my crows feet, is it normal to do it at the age of 30 and how many times i will have to repeat the injections afterwards. will that affect my wrinkles in the long run or it doesnt . thank you so much.

  9. DrNaderi says:

    @meteofr
    Hi. Botox in lower doses can prevent lines and wrinkles so we have patients who start in their early 20′s and it works great. Typically for the crows feet you need 10-20 units of Botox total injected about 3 times a year and it should cost around $150-$300 per injection. In the long run you should have less wrinkles but if you stop it will just go back to the way it was – not worse.

    My heart is skipping beats and racing watching this…does it hurt? I don’t know how she remains so calm?

  11. MyGreenCrystals says:

    OMG it seems so damn painful!

  12. DrNaderi says:

    @MyGreenCrystals
    It is surprisingly very tolerable. It does hurt if you get the lip injection without any dental block because with the dental block the lips go numb. Without the dental block, it hurts but its tolerable. Its a matter of patient preference.

  13. bluessoul says:

    Wait. Did you say juvaderm ultra xc comes in 1/2 syringes, or that was simply what this patient needed? I have full lips and was told that juvaderm did not come in 1/2 syringes.

  14. DrNaderi says:

    @bluessoul
    Juvederm Ultra XC does come in a 1/2 syringe but this patient had multiple full syringes because she wanted dramatic full lips due to her modelling career. Restylane also comes in full and half syringes.

    It looks like she’s crying.

  16. bluessoul says:

    @DrNaderi

    Thanks for the info! Guess I need to find another doctor.

  17. DrNaderi says:

    @thetruthcanthurt
    She is shedding tears! Of course! Its a needle injected into the lips! It hurts when its done WITHOUT a dental block. The point is that IT IS TOLERABLE even though it hurts. Some choose to be totally numb with a dental block and others tolerate the injections without numbing.

  18. thetruthcanthurt says:

    @thetruthcanthurt Well, she’s a brave lady. I would need lots of numbing I think :D

  19. Isoptera says:

    @diamondsontherock different from person to person, but on me… it hurted like HELL

  20. DrNaderi says:

    @Isoptera
    Injection technique is very important. I have patients who drive in from other nearby states or fly in from Florida, and other states to get injected because of my “light precise touch.” Some doctors are very rough or heavy handed. But it does hurt. Its not like a massage! Its just that for most people, its very tolerable for the few seconds it takes to get it done.

  21. DorianDietrichBlog says:

    as a doctor whats your opinion on fat grafts , cost wis and durablity/ longevity vs juverderm etc ?

  22. DrNaderi says:

    @DorianDietrichBlog
    Good question. I like fat grafts but they are not as precise and 50-90% of it may resorb over time and you have to over-fill the area because of the resorption issue so you will have weeks of swelling and down time and the end result can be lumpy. Its good for volume but for precise areas like the tear troughs (dark circles under eyes) and lips, “safer” fillers usually work better.

    She looks like an egyptian actress..

  24. TheMegadarinka says:

    How much this treatment cost?
    is this for few years or months ?
    and in what age u can put lip augmentation?

  25. DrNaderi says:

    @TheMegadarinka
    The lip injections range in the $600-700 price range per syringe. That is for most people. Some people prefer a subtle augmentation and can use a half syringe of Restylane which is about $350. Some women prefer much more dramatic results and may do 2 syringes or more and the cost would go up. She is a tall exotic model and wants very full lips but most women prefer a more subtle result.

  26. Ghena says:

    Great video. The lady was so brave enough to ease the pain, she looks like crying, it looks very painful urgh!. I know it cost very expensive but I guess its not important for me. I’m contented of what I have right now.
